Route from Hipcamp near Harrow, Ont to Leamington, Ont

Leaving my Hipcamp this afternoon was a treat because I got to sleep in, use my solar panel to charge up my power bank and cell phone. Also, after having this solar panel for two years, I just figured out that I had the right power cord on me so that I could plug directly into the panel and charge my phone. I found out that this charge is faster than using my power bank to charge the phone. This also allowed me more access because now I could charge directly during the day and save my power bank for night charging. That really extended my cell battery use. Who knew!!

Cedar Beach, highway #50

It was a beautiful day as Dax and I meandered our way down towards and along the lake. Beautiful little cottages along with huge mansions dotted the two lane lakeshore road. There was traffic but it was light and the drivers were respectful. We appreciated that very much. It was a lovely ride and I look forward to doing this lakeshore ride again in the future.

By mid afternoon, Dax and I were both ready for a swim to cool off and have a nice break. I parked the bike and trailer in this parkette and both of us went in swimming at this little beach. The water was wonderful.

Dax and I were cooled off and drip drying as we passed by the Cedar Beach Conservation Area. It looked like a great place to stop for a shaded lunch but the hill getting into and out of the parking lot was way too steep for my bike and trailer. So we rode on into Kingsville.

Once we got to Kingsville, Dax and I found a huge evergreen tree that was giving wonderful cool shade. It was just off the sidewalk on the Main Street. We sat down and had our lunch and a rest. It was nice to be able to talk to some of the locals too who just happened to pass by and were curious about our rig and our travels. The rest of our ride this day was much of the same, getting through construction in Kingsville and more highway riding into Leamington.

Once we arrived in Leamington, our Warmshowers Host, Sam met us and helped us get all set up in her back yard. She introduced me to her husband and adorable little baby boy. She helped me patch my sleeping mat that had gone flat(can’t blame Dax for it this time… ha!). Cooked a wonderful family dinner and we had great conversation about Leamington and its culture.
