Dog Gone Biking Adventures!!

Episode #18 2024 Fall Bike Touring with Dax London – Thamesford, Ont loop

I started planning this little fall bike tour on the Friday. Planning to leave on the Sunday. Messaged my daughter to arrange an overnight stay with the family on our way back home on Tuesday night. Going to wild camp Sunday night near Thamesford and then tour around town for the day before spending Monday night with my Warmshowers Hosts, Norma and Jim just outside of Thamesford. Should be home Wednesday just in time to rest up for my music lesson on Thursday morning and my art class Thursday afternoon.

The weather is looking really good for the next 10 days. So I hope I timed it right for the end of the season.

Looking forward to a few days on the road.

Well, Sunday’s weather proved to be a no go. The winds were 47km per hour with 8 mm of rain in the forecast. Just too much to bike in. So, plan is to finish packing today and get a good start tomorrow, Monday morning.

The roads were being graded with fresh gravel that was several inches thick.
The sunshine was amazing
Just had to stop to take a break and a selfie of my rig
Found the trail that leads into the back of Thamesford but couldn’t ride all the way into town because the trail gets too rough for the trailer
Coming out the townside of the Trail into a newer subdivision
Didn’t have to go all the way back to the highway to get into town thankfully
Stopped again for a little break and to enjoy the afternoon sunshine
Spent a few hours resting at the Thamesford Park along the river in the town proper.
Arrived at my Warmshowers Host’s rural property around 6 pm just in time for dinner

As I started to get camp set up
Got camp all set up in the back yard.
Norma prepared a wonderful low carb dinner for me and we got to catch up on how life has been treating each of us since my last visit two years ago.
The moonlight was wonderful
Dax fell asleep as I laid listening to the coyotes howling in the distant fields
The book I brang with me to read.
Honestly, I’m not sure I finished it. Or if I did, I wasn’t too excited about the ending. Ha!

Finally arrived home !! Dax having a good lay about!! Well deserved Dax!!!
