Day 1: June 16th, 2024
First day on the road was a challenge for both Dax and I.. rolling hills, full sun and heat in the 30’s C. Got a sunburn on my arms..glad I brought sunscreen but it doesn’t work if I don’t put it on. Ha!!
We made it to Jerseyville that first day. Two concessions into the trail, we met our old friend, Terry from last year’s Brantford to Hamilton rail trail ride.
Terry said to me, “ do you need a place to stay tonight?” I said, “Yes please!!! I took him up on his offer to stay on his property that night. Had a little bond fire and a beer and got to know him better. He’s a musician. Plays guitar and bass. Has 2 grown kids. Is a new granddad. He invited us to come back and stay anytime. Even contact him with dates if I want to organize for next year. Very nice man! Great host, his wife is Monica and his son is Kevin, once a professional drummer.
