Day 2: June 17th, 2024

Ride to Brantford. Started at 5:30 am from Terry’s. Found the “Farm Stay” property Terry had mentioned. They are connected with bikingontario.org, so I’m going to look them up to see about booking and cost for next year. Dax took a swim in the Grand River to cool down. He enjoyed that but was walking stiffly when he came out of the water. Never seen that before. Wondered if now he is 9 yrs old is he instantly an old man?? 22km run can do that to anyone.

We stopped at the trail hub in Brantford to rest and have lunch then soldiered on to about 2 km north of Mount Pleasant.

We pitched there on the trail for the night but had to endure severe heat till the sun went down. Had the tarp up for shade and we both drank lots of water. Dax was great, never over heated but I needed reassurance from my friend, Joanne that I was doing everything for Dax to keep him comfortable. All signs said he was doing great.

On the Hamilton to Brantford Rail Trail. This end of the trail is not paved.
Passing the ponds where we wildcamped right on the trail the year before in 2023. It was that trip where I met Terry walking the trail the morning I was packing up to get back on the road.
