Day 3: June 18th, 2024
The next morning I woke up to see that there was a weather warning for moderate rain for an hour between 5 am and 6 am. Since it was 4am, I took the opportunity to set up the rain tarp and cover the bike with my rain cape.
Well, it was not a moderate rain that eventually came down on us. It was more like a hurricane!!! I had to literally hold the doors of the tent together so it wouldn’t blow away. The rain tarp pegs held in the ground but the tarp did fall covering the tent more. That was to our advantage though. Gave us more rain and wind protection. The lighting struck so close I saw the gold colour through the green tent walls. It was one of the worst storms I’ve lived through. But short – thank goodness. If it had been longer my arms would have given out from holding the vestibule doors together. Ha!!
Dax was shivering and scared and after it was all over, he gagged a few times once he got out of the tent. Poor fellow.
Packed up and headed to Mount Pleasant to the park for a bite of breakfast once the storm had passed.
