Day 4 & 5:
June 19th – 20 th, 2024
On to Scotland, where our host, Jonah was waiting for us to check in to Wilewood Bike Camping just off the Waterfront to Brantford Rail Trail.

Wilewood Bike Camping, Scotland, On
Jonah suggested we stay a few days to ride out the heat. We were very grateful.
So got pitched, fed and watered Dax. Took a lesson on how to ride an e-bike with a throttle. Used the ebike to go do some groceries. Left Dax to chill in their cool workshop. He was good. Didn’t bark or whine.
Took an outdoor shower and washed my clothes. Hung up all the wet gear and rested and ate and read the rest of the day.
Tomorrow I’m planning on biking to Waterford to get some propane for my Thermacell mosquito repellent.
All in all, today was a short ride-day, 11 km for both Dax and I. It cooled down close to sunset. Nice breeze and birds singing and the sound of the little stream gurgling just a few yards from my tent pitched in a pine forest. Love this place!! (Note to future self – Mushers Secret is great for getting pine gum out of dog coats!! Ha!!)

Rode the e-bike into Waterford this morning. Left Dax in the cool garage again on the farm.

Picked up propane a sweater for $5, deodorant and a cake of hair shampoo. Got a recommendation for a hair product that will help make my hair take a style from the owner of the little boutique down by the ponds in Waterford. She use to be a hairdresser.
Learned on the way back that I can ride the throttle like a dirt bike. That was fun. Glad I wore my visor too. Bugs at speed in the face would hurt!! Ha!
Jonah gave me a throw-away long sleeve t-shirt to help keep the sun off my arms while riding. The sun is burning me even with #60 sunscreen on. Owie!! Need to use more of it more often and don’t rub it in. He also found me some propane for my Thermacell mosquito repellent. But since I bought a can in town, I’ll leave that with him.
Dax had a great time this afternoon. I had unclipped him for a few minutes. Put him in a down stay. He stayed for about 10 minutes while I was talking to Jonah about my trip into Waterford on the E-bike – than he just took off.
He ran into the shrubs, then the pond, then the lawn, then did a few zoomies, rolled around on the grass, took a dump and then finally came back.. sheesh!!! No recall at all!!!
I figured out later that it was the farm cat that had been sneaking around that he saw and just couldn’t resist chasing. We didn’t know then what had got his attention, but later on the cat came back and tried to lure him away again. This time he was on his long lead and he bolted again! When it came to the end of the rope, so to speak, Dax did a somersault in the air! He was quite surprised by that!! No harm done.. could just imagine the cat saying, “ drats!! Foiled again!!” Haaa!!
Put up my change/bathroom tent this morning too. Wow!! What a difference having more private space makes. So glad I bought it. So glad I brought it.
It’s 4:13 pm and super hot and humid out. There is a cooling breeze that’s helping. But I’m tempted to go have a cool outdoor shower. Turned out I didn’t take that shower… ha!!
Every year I bring my Thermacell mosquito repeller. So glad I did this year too. So easy and cheap to use. Works quickly.. another great purchase!
Spent the afternoon reading and falling asleep. My knees are feeling better and Dax, well he’s feeling better too🤣😎👍
