Taking Shelter from Bad Weather Again

5 km outside of Tillsonburg, On

We thought that we had a long day of riding ahead and was looking forward to a cooler weather day. What I didn’t know was that the wind had other plans for us. It only took another 5 kms outside of Tillsonburg to realize we were going to need another place to shelter for at least a few hours because of the severe winds and threatening rain. Fortunately, we found the perfect spot to stop and get out of the elements. We found an old fruit market that was closed and up for sale. It had the perfect wrap around porch on it that gave us plenty of shelter from the wind and rain. We decided to stop there till noon and evaluate the situation till then.

As it turned out by noon, the weather had gotten worse and we had spoken to several of the neighbours as well as another OPP officer about staying for the rest of the day and night. All were in agreement that it was the best idea under the circumstances. So with permission again, we set up our tent and settled in for the rest of the day and in the evening we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset. we slept well even though the porch lights came on at dusk and several of the locals dropped into the parking lot at different times to visit with each other. Dax wasn’t bothered, so neither was I.
